Redo the I Do
If you could plan your wedding all over again, what would you do differently
“I’m a do-it-yourself kind of person, and if I could have done it all over again I would choose to take responsibility for only one area of the festivities, leaving the rest to others so that I could have enjoyed myself more and made time for the friends and family who had traveled far. At the end of the day it’s really about the people, not the event.”
-Jenny Brett, Montpelier
“If I had to change anything about my wedding I would have planned it later in the afternoon. My wedding began at 11 a.m. with pictures beforehand, so in order to get properly dressed for the most important day of my life, I had to wake up at 5 a.m. Needless to say, by late afternoon, I was praying for some time to take a long nap.”
-Leigh Ring, Lexington
“I would make sure the photographer had a list of specific photos to take (other than all the same old traditional ones)—photos with particular people at the reception or certain groups of people and backdrops. I only requested one specific picture and everyone who looks at my photos always says, “What a neat picture that is!” I wish that I had taken the time to think about and request other photos of that day.”
-Whitney West, Chesapeake
