Boy Bling
Grooms too are hitting the aisle with more flash
During a wedding, all eyes are on the bride—and with good reason. With all that bride bling going on, why not take a good long look? Just don’t forget the groom. Men are hitting the aisle with more flash—boy bling—and jazzing up their looks with diamonds on cuff links, tie bars, watches and rings.
“Grooms are indeed wearing more diamonds, but only in good taste—nothing too bright” says David Nygaard of David Nygaard Fine Jewelers. —The men are wearing diamonds mostly in white metal like platinum, silver and even steel.”
If you are conservative and don’t want to go all out, try cuff links. “The best thing about cuff links is that they will have a life well after the wedding for many years to come, as they are increasingly popular for business as well as formal occasions” Nygaard says.
For men who want to wear more diamonds, try a diamond watch and replace the traditional boutonni¸re with a small jeweled pin or a brooch. “Men can push the envelope in their accessories and still keep the apparel classic and well-fitted,” says fashion commentator Leon Hall. —Beautiful platinum and diamond jewelry is how you compete when you are not the youngest or even the handsomest in the room” Hall says.
